# Overview

Use release notes with the installed client version to understand changes, plan an update, and verify the result.

1. In Desktop, open **Settings → About** and record both the app and engine identifiers.
2. In CLI, run `foxora --version`; Desktop and CLI can update independently.
3. Open the official [Foxora releases](https://www.foxora.ai/changelog) page and read every release between the installed and target versions.
4. Save active work and export important local data before a major repair or migration.
5. Update through **Check for Updates** or `foxora update`, then rerun the original task.

Release tags and availability change over time, so this documentation does not freeze a “latest” version number. Use the signed release channel and in-product updater as the current authority.

**Expected result:** About or `foxora --version` reports the intended build and the original acceptance check still passes.
