Branching from an existing task
Create a separate task when you want to explore another approach without mixing its transcript, approvals, or result into the original.

Steps
- Summarize the original goal, current state, key files, and verification already completed.
- Choose New task, or use Assign work to new session from the composer when that control is available.
- Paste the bounded context and state the alternative outcome clearly.
- Keep the original task open until the new result has been compared and accepted.
Expected result
The alternative work runs in an independent transcript that can be evaluated without rewriting the source task.
Note: The current Desktop transcript does not expose a one-click “fork from this message” action.
